Texas National Bank, through its TNB Foundation, awarded scholarships to three McAllen High students on April 22. One is a TNB Foundation Chairman Scholar and the other two are Presidential Scholars.
This included Ana Sofia Garcia, a deserving student from McAllen High School, as the next TNB Foundation Chairman Scholar. The Chairman scholarship aims to cover the full cost of attendance at a Texas university and exemplifies the foundation's commitment to transforming lives and strengthening communities in the Rio Grande Valley.
To celebrate these remarkable achievements, McAllen High School organized a special event to surprise Ana with this award. During the celebration, the TNB Foundation also recognized two students from McAllen High School with the prestigious Presidential Scholarship: Julia Martinez and Anthony Gonzalez. This honor highlights their exceptional accomplishments and dedication to their education and communities.
“They (TNB Foundation) embody giving back to the community that built us,” Gonzalez said. “I plan to go to my dream school, UT (University of Texas), and I plan to study civil engineering.”
Martinez plans to go into the health field.
“I’m going to be attending the University of Notre Dame with a major in bio-chemistry,” Martinez said.
Garcia has aspirations of becoming a dentist.
“With this scholarship, I plan to go to college, graduate and then apply to the dental school at U.T. San Antonio,” Garcia said.
The mission of the TNB Foundation is dedicated to fostering quality education, providing affordable housing options, and nurturing small businesses. Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to create a resilient and prosperous community for all residents in the Rio Grande Valley. This scholarship is not just about providing financial assistance to deserving students; it is about offering mentorship and being an integral part of the lives of all our Chairman and Presidential Scholars as they navigate their educational and professional journeys.
To apply for this prestigious scholarship, students are required to submit an online application that includes a personal essay. From the pool of applicants, the top 25 candidates are selected to participate in a rigorous interview process. This comprehensive selection ensures that the scholarship is awarded to students who not only demonstrate academic excellence but also showcase leadership, resilience, and a commitment to their communities.
The TNB Foundation congratulates Ana Sofia, Julia, and Anthony on their achievements and looks forward to supporting them in their academic pursuits. For more information about the TNB Foundation and its scholarship opportunities, please visit www.tnbfoundation.org.
