McAllen ISD, the City of McAllen and local residents joined together to celebrate the opening of Morris/Perez Park -- a vibrant new joint-use space that reflects the power of community collaboration.
The ribbon cutting ceremony took place August 22, 2025. The park is in between Morris Middle School and Perez Elementary.
The completed park features a variety of amenities designed to serve both students and the surrounding community, including a restroom facility with an adult changing table, a decomposed granite trail with concrete curbs, field lighting, benches, picnic tables, chess tables, enhanced landscaping, bike racks, entry arches and an ADA-compliant walkway ramp providing access from Perez Elementary.
Morris/Perez Park, now officially open to the public seven days a week from dusk until 11 pm, offers a welcoming and inclusive space for recreation, relaxation, and community engagement.
